The Opportunity as a General Assistant

We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic General Assistant to join our team at Glenholme.

This is a varied, multi-skilled role for someone who enjoys working across different areas of a care home and is willing to support the service wherever they are needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a General Assistant, you will work as part of the wider team to help ensure our residents receive a high standard of care and support in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment.

Depending on the needs of the service, your duties may include:

• Supporting the housekeeping team to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming home
• Assisting with residents’ laundry and linen
• Supporting the kitchen team with preparing, serving and clearing meals
• Helping with general duties around the service
• Supporting residents as a Care Assistant when required
• Working flexibly across different departments and shift patterns, which may include day and night shifts

When supporting within care, you will receive the appropriate training and must successfully complete any required competency assessments before working independently.

Whatever area of the home you are supporting, you will play an important part in helping us provide a high-quality service and a positive experience for our residents.

Previous experience in care, housekeeping, laundry, catering or a similar environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.

Vera James House is a purpose-built residential care home for older people with 42 single rooms, all with ensuite facilities. Vera James House is designed to support older people living with dementia and other related conditions, as well as residents who require permanent or respite care in a residential setting.
