Key Accountabilities:


  • Coordinate closely with the clearing agent and concerned governmental entities to ensure timely and efficient cross-border operation of imports and export of WFP consignments.
  • Supervise cargo inspection by the concerned governmental department (Customs, SSMO, PPD, Biosafety and Port Health quarantine) and follow up on receipt of the required releases.
  • Provide guidance to Clearing agent as well as well as transporters on customs requirements to ensure applying efficient clearance procedures.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records for each convoy, including arrival date, border crossing, inspection status, releases, departure, offloading, and return to the border and submit a daily status report to supervisor.
  • Provide daily operational reports, as required based on ongoing activities, and submit a weekly operations report.
  • Liaise with all relevant parties to ensure the smooth clearance and movement of WFP cargo.
  • Compile preliminary shipment information received from RBC/WFP Sudan, establish records for expected arrivals, and ensure that all required documents are delivered to the clearing agent in a timely manner.
  • Immediately inform the supervisors of any bottlenecks related to operational or customs clearing procedures that may require intervention, as well as reporting the general situation at the cross-border point ( Flow of Ops, Congestion, security, strikes ……ex)
  • Ensure copies of the final cargo releases/certificates issued by the concerned authorities are duly received and properly filed in the WFP records for each shipment, for easy reference.
  • Adhere to WFP ethics and operational standards in all logistics aspects while carrying out the assigned responsibility.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

    Qualification and Experience:
    • University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field
    • At least two years of relevant experience in supply chain management, warehousing and/or logistics within a humanitarian organization or private sector companies dealing with humanitarian projects
    • Experience in managing warehouses and large teams
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain good relations with clients, partners and colleagues
    • Proven organizational skills, attention to detail and analytical abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is desirable
