Description of Position
TPG's Client Reporting team is seeking a high-performing Associate to join a fast-growing, technically sophisticated team at the intersection of private credit, data engineering, and institutional investor relations. This is an exceptional opportunity for an analytically rigorous professional who wants to combine technical depth (SQL, Python, modern BI platforms) with high-impact stakeholder management at one of the world's leading alternative asset managers.
The Client Reporting team serves as the analytics function of Platform Finance, working directly with portfolio management, investor relations, and fund operations to deliver critical reporting and insights to institutional investors. As an Associate, you'll own the production and delivery of monthly and quarterly investor reports, performance materials, and regulatory templates—while building the automated data pipelines and analytical infrastructure that power these deliverables.
This role demands both strong technical capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills. You'll write SQL and Python code daily, build Power BI dashboards, and automate complex workflows—while also serving as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders across the firm. As you grow in the role, you'll take on increasingly complex analytical projects and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of our reporting infrastructure within Databricks.
Typical hours are 8:30am to 6:30pm but the individual must be flexible to work additional hours earlier or later as needed, especially during quarterly reporting cycles, and when critical deadlines must be met.
Principal Responsibilities
Investor Reporting and Data Engineering
- Own end-to-end production and delivery of monthly and quarterly investor reports, performance summaries, regulatory templates, and exposure analyses; build and maintain automated SQL/Python pipelines and Power BI dashboards that transform raw data from Databricks and SQL Server into reporting-ready outputs for institutional investors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders across portfolio management, investor relations, fund accounting, and operations; proactively manage reporting timelines, gather requirements, validate data, and resolve discrepancies while maintaining strong, trust-based relationships across technical and non-technical teams
- Design and implement robust automation workflows using SQL, Python, Alteryx, and Power BI to eliminate manual processes and improve efficiency; write production-quality, well-documented code with built-in validation and reconciliation controls that ensure data accuracy before deliverables reach stakeholders
- Translate complex business needs into technical solutions; communicate effectively across audiences, escalate issues appropriately, and demonstrate flexibility and ownership during quarterly reporting cycles and time-sensitive deadlines—willing to go the extra mile to ensure quality and timeliness
Continuous Improvement & Development
- Leverage AI tools strategically to accelerate code development, troubleshoot technical issues, and enhance analytical workflows; apply rigorous validation to ensure accuracy and reliability of AI-generated outputs
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to standardize reporting processes and scale team capacity; stay current with emerging tools and best practices in data analytics and BI; bring fresh ideas to improve workflows
- Contribute to team documentation; maintain code repositories, document standard operating procedures, and share technical insights that elevate the entire team's capabilities
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or finance analytics (asset management/financial services strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and automation
- Hands-on experience building automated workflows and data pipelines in Databricks
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI platforms
- Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, complex formulas, pivot tables)
- Demonstrated use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, ) for coding or problem-solving
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data quality
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive under deadline pressure and manage multiple priorities
Preferred
- Proficiency with Alteryx for data preparation, transformation, and workflow automation
- Understanding of private credit, private equity, or hedge fund structures and LP reporting conventions
- Track record in fast-paced, high-growth environments where adaptability and initiative are critical to success
