What is the opportunity?
The Payroll Operations Analyst administers overall payroll production and ensures the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related services. Applies complete knowledge, skills, and practices to perform assignments.
What will you do?
Accurate processing of Canadian monthly, semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls, on a timely basis
Manually calculates and inputs changes to payroll
Verifies and audits payroll prior to and post release
Posts payroll entries to general ledger accounts, including for settlements, severance and posting errors
Responds to escalated inquiries using Service Now case management system. Ensures cases are closed within established service levels
Processing of Litigation payments and issue cheques within stipulated deadlines, as well as urgent same-day requests
Processing Income Protection payments and provide guidance on payroll legislation to the IP team initiating the requests
Processing of negative pays for terminated employees. Send emails with templates to managers to support them in obtaining written employee consent
Create the Record of Employment forms for all terminations, leave of absence and upload them to Service Canada
Action written requests from Service Canada on employee information
Process manual payments for pensioner lumpsum amounts
Troubleshoot banking issues for employees (EFO) for Vendor Maintenance
Investigates and resolves payroll issues and identifies root cause and recommends processes to prevent re-occurrence
Identifies and recommends solutions to issues, process gaps, service efficiency and effectiveness opportunities to Manager, Payroll Production
Continuously train and coach team colleagues on issues or concerns - providing continuous feedback to team - reporting back to manager
Strong understanding of Canadian payroll policies, employment standard policies and government related policies. Assisting Manager in ensuring payroll team meets legal and government regulations and RBC compliance requirements
Document processes, create and update job aids ensuring instructions are continuously maintained - approval from Manager
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Payroll experience – minimum 3 years
Excellent investigative and audit skills
Good knowledge of HR/Payroll SAP application or equivalent payroll applications & HR Self-Serve Web Tools
Good knowledge of government requirements relating to payroll
Knowledge of general ledger and payroll accounts
Knowledge of ServiceNow Customer Relationship Management application
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word etc.)
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Excellent Customer Service and Collaboration Skills
Good Communication and Impact and Influence Skills
