Salary:  $25.20 Per Hour (SR-16, Step D)

This immediate vacancy is located in the Hana Public & School Library and is responsible for providing circulation, reference  and programming for all ages in the community as well as faculty members and students at the Hana High and Elementary School; to promote lifelong learning, and to provide recreational, informational and education materials for all ages.  This facility serves as both a public and school library by combining resources to serve these two groups of users.

As an entry level trainee, the employee receives on-the-job training in the principles, concepts, work processes, methods and techniques, and reference materials fundamental to aspects of the professional work to be performed, and orientation to the goals, objectives philosophies, etc. pertinent to the assigned program.  Work assignments are clear-cut, routine, and are selected and designed to develop the employee in preparation for work at a higher level.  

Upon completion of probation and continued satisfactory job performance, the successful employee will be expected to progress to the authorized (higher) level of the positions in the assigned program.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.


Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Note: Applicants who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree within three months, and will meet the minimum qualification requirements upon their graduation will be accepted for examination. If selected for an appointment, you will be required to submit your official transcript or diploma confirming your graduation.

Progressively responsible administrative, professional or other analytical work experience that provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

The education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.

Driver's License: Some positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.
