Description

At FNBO, our employees are the heart of our story—and we’re committed to their success! Please see below the details of this career opportunity and how it fits into our organization’s success.

Summary of the Job:

Lead the recovery of past-due loans within Diversified Financial Services (DFS) and other small business and consumer loan portfolio. Lead the resolution of contracts designated as "Exit Relationships," including bankruptcy proceedings, litigation, and replevin actions. Decide on restructuring options for delinquent loans including modifications and extensions, according to FNBO guidelines. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership on high-risk loan portfolios.

About This Role:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and assist in managing resources for loan settlements involving bankruptcy or litigation, supporting efforts to minimize the bank's liability exposure as a participant, agent, or direct lender.

  • Support adherence to settlement laws and procedures, including borrower rights and applicable regulations, in accordance with department policies.

  • Participate in collection and recovery activities, engaging with customers, third parties, and legal representatives to support recovery efforts and contribute to positive portfolio outcomes.

  • Exercise approval authority for DFS and other cost center expenditures, including legal fees, collection agency costs, vendor invoices, and expenses related to foreclosures, repossessions, short sales, charge-offs, and settlements.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of DFS and other repossessed agricultural/other equipment — including tractors, combines, pivots, and related machinery — from repossession reporting through final sale, coordinating with auction houses, private buyers, and third-party vendors while ensuring compliance with applicable UCC filings, title requirements, and state repossession regulations.

  • Review past due reports to verify proper risk ratings and identify portfolio weaknesses, completing required documentation when loans transition to nonaccrual status or charge-off in accordance with bank policies and procedures.

  • Aid in preparing individually assessed Collateral Dependent Worksheets to identify potential losses to the bank.

  • Administer Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 bankruptcy accounts, assisting with documentation, compliance, and audit activities in accordance with department policies and applicable state and federal bankruptcy laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and deliver regular updates on troubled loans to bank participants, coordinating communication across internal business units to ensure all parties are informed of loan status, risks, and resolution progress.
  • Conduct daily review of collection, repossession, and foreclosure activity reports across the core banking system and spreadsheets, identifying missed follow-ups and workflow bottlenecks and escalating areas for improvement to the appropriate team members
