Position: Sterilization & Support Technician
Location: Keystone Pediatric Development Center (KPDC) / Keystone Life Skills Center (KLSC) - Chambersburg
Full-Time (40 Hours per Week)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; No Weekends or Holidays
Keystone Pediatric Development Center (KPDC) and Keystone Life Skills Center (KLSC) are seeking a full-time Sterilization & Support Technician to join our team.
This position plays an important role in supporting daily clinical operations by assisting therapists, maintaining treatment environments, preparing materials and food for therapy sessions, and providing administrative support.
The Sterilization & Support Technician helps ensure therapy spaces, equipment, and supplies are clean, organized, and ready for patient care. Working closely with licensed clinical staff and under the direction of the Office Manager, this individual contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality services while maintaining compliance with infection control, food safety, and confidentiality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical & Therapy Support
- Assist occupational, speech, and feeding therapists with patient preparation, treatment room setup, and therapeutic activities under the direct supervision of licensed staff.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain therapy materials, equipment, and activities needed for patient treatment sessions.
- Escort patients to and from treatment areas when requested.
- Help maintain treatment environments that support safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
Feeding & Food Preparation Support
- Prepare food and assist with meal setup for feeding therapy sessions in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor and maintain inventories of food, feeding supplies, and treatment materials, including ordering, stocking, labeling, and rotating supplies.
- Follow established food safety guidelines for handling, preparing, transporting, storing, and serving food used in therapy programs.
- Ensure proper food labeling, temperature monitoring, storage, and disposal procedures.
- Prevent cross-contamination through appropriate food handling, cleaning, and sanitization practices.
- Maintain clean and organized feeding therapy kitchens, food preparation areas, and treatment rooms.
- Report food safety concerns, expired products, damaged equipment, or contamination risks promptly.
Cleaning, Sterilization & Infection Control
- Clean and sanitize treatment rooms, therapy gyms, feeding areas, adaptive equipment, toys, and high-touch surfaces throughout the day.
- Complete routine and deep-cleaning tasks according to departmental schedules and infection prevention standards.
- Sanitize food preparation areas, dishes, utensils, refrigerators, countertops, and feeding equipment.
- Utilize approved cleaning agents and disinfectants in accordance with organizational policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, sanitation, food safety, occupational safety, and emergency preparedness requirements.
- Complete required documentation, including sanitation logs, cleaning schedules, temperature records, and inventory tracking.
- Follow all Keystone Health infection control, safety, and emergency response procedures.
Administrative & Front Office Support
- Provide front desk and reception coverage as assigned.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, copying, laminating, data entry, and organizing forms and materials.
- Maintain provider communication tools, schedules, sign-up sheets, and employee name badges.
- Support departmental administrative functions to ensure smooth clinical operations and positive patient experiences.
Equipment & Supply Management
- Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, restocking, and monitoring equipment functionality.
- Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment and supplies.
- Complete laundry, dishwashing, storage, and general housekeeping duties necessary to support daily operations.
- Assist the Clinical Director with work order requests and procurement activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and patient service.
