Description

Sourcebooks is seeking an obsessive reader and highly-motivated publishing professional in-the-making to join our best-in-class teams at Cosmo Reads and Sourcebooks Landmark as a Marketing & Publicity Assistant. In this entry-level role, you’ll help promote bestselling novels across genres, including fantasy, romance, suspense, horror, and book club fiction.

As a Marketing & Publicity Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our publicity outreach, digital and social media marketing, and influencer efforts, contributing to the success of our bestselling titles and authors. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated individual who is enthusiastic about adult fiction and eager to gain hands-on experience in an innovative, fast-moving publishing environment.

The location for this position is in-office in our headquarters in Naperville, Illinois or office in New York, NY, with a required 3-4 days in office per week.

This is an non-exempt hourly position between $22.00 - $25.00. We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.    

What You’ll Do
  • As part of our marketing and publicity department, you’ll help get our dynamic list of books into the hands of the editors, influencers, and readers who will love them.
  • Manage and facilitate ARC and finished copy mailings, including media and influencer mailings, Goodreads giveaways, and more.
  • Support consumer marketing efforts by assisting with social media management and asset creation.
  • Coordinate author travel, maintain detailed itineraries, and support event logistics for author tours, conferences, and book festivals.
  • Maintain marketing materials, campaign assets, inventory, and shared files to ensure efficient team operations.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and project support for publicity and marketing campaigns, helping keep projects on schedule and materials organized.
  • Assist with media outreach by coordinating trade review submissions, maintaining media lists, and coordinating seasonal catalog pitches.

What You’ll Bring

  • 1–2 years of publishing experience preferred; internships, freelance work, bookstore experience, library experience, and on-campus literary magazines or newspapers count .
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for commercial fiction, publishing, and book publicity and marketing.
  • Interest in social media, influencer marketing, and consumer engagement
  • Comfort working collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or social media management tools is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for author events, conferences, and book festivals.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
