Environmental Technician

The Environmental Technician supports field operations by performing environmental monitoring, sampling, site assessments, and compliance tasks across active project sites. This is a fully onsite role that ensures projects meet environmental regulations, internal standards, and client requirements. The technician works closely with project supervisors, safety personnel, and field crews to protect natural resources and maintain environmentally responsible work practices.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform soil, water, and air sampling as required for project compliance or environmental assessments.Conduct site inspections to identify environmental risks, erosion issues, waste handling concerns, or compliance gaps.Monitor stormwater controls, sediment barriers, and erosion-control systems to ensure proper installation and function.Assist with hazardous materials handling, labeling, storage, and disposal following environmental and safety regulations.Maintain detailed logs, field notes, inspection reports, and sampling documentation.Support environmental compliance programs, including permitting, recordkeeping, and incident reporting.Verify that crews follow environmental best practices, including dust control, spill prevention, recycling, and waste reduction.Operate field equipment such as meters, pumps, sampling kits, and monitoring devices.Respond to environmental incidents, spills, or non-compliance issues and assist with corrective actions.Work with supervisors to implement job-specific environmental plans and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.Communicate findings and recommendations to project management and safety personnel.Assist with training field staff on environmental awareness and proper field procedures. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in environmental science or related fields preferred.1–3 years of experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, or a related technical role.Knowledge of environmental regulations, stormwater management, hazardous materials, and erosion-control practices.Ability to understand and follow environmental plans, permits, and documentation requirements.Strong observational and analytical skills; able to identify and resolve environmental issues in the field.Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and navigating active construction sites.Basic mechanical aptitude for using monitoring equipment and field tools.Strong communication and documentation skills.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling between job sites.Certifications such as HAZWOPER, SWPPP training, First Aid/CPR, or similar are a plus. Work Environment & ConditionsFully onsite role with regular travel between project sites.Outdoor work in active construction environments with exposure to weather, terrain, and equipment.Requires use of PPE and adherence to company safety and environmental protocols.May require early mornings, overtime, or occasional weekend work depending on project needs. Why Work at Outlast LLC?Join a company committed to environmental stewardship and responsible construction practices.Gain hands-on experience in environmental fieldwork with opportunities for growth.Work closely with skilled field teams and supervisors in a collaborative environment.Develop expertise through training, certifications, and career advancement pathways.
