About our client
Our client is a national telecommunications and infrastructure contractor with over 40 years’ experience. The business designs, builds, installs and maintains networks for major service providers, with services spanning telecoms, civils, utilities, rail and traffic management.
They are recruiting experienced civils operatives to support new installations and maintain the Virgin Media network. This role suits someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in quality and wants to help build the UK’s fibre infrastructure.

Key responsibilities
- Carry out excavation works in highways in compliance with NRSWA requirements.
- Install ducting and chambers, investigate blockages and clear underground routes.
- Rod, rope and test fibre routes.
- Reinstate completed works to SROH standards.
- Attend residential properties to run cables from distribution points.
- Liaise with customers to agree garden routing and access before starting work.
- Locate existing utility services safely and use mechanical civils equipment appropriately.
- Record completed work digitally and maintain a clean, safe site.
- Maintain safety and quality standards when working on the Virgin Media network.
Skills and requirements
- Full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months, with no more than six penalty points.
- Valid NRSWA Units 1 to 5 are essential.
- Experience on the Virgin Media network is desirable.
- Confidence using mechanical civils equipment.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety, risk assessment and safe digging practices.
- Experience in telecoms, construction, civils, utilities or a practical trade.
- Good communication skills and an approach focused on customers.
- Willingness to work at height and underground when required.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weathers and using digital job systems.
