Description
Two openings | Hybrid · Concord
$100,000–$125,000 plus equity
Technacity Group is partnering with Cytronic to hire two early-career engineers to help bring a working bin-picking robot onto the warehouse floor. You’ll write Python, test changes on real hardware and measure whether they make the system faster and more reliable.
The work
Our cell already picks. It combines a collaborative robot arm, vacuum gripper, cameras, a PLC and an autobagger, running on ROS 2. Your job is to improve how those pieces work together and help prepare the system for warehouse deployment.
There’s room to experiment with motion paths, timing and machine vision. We’re looking for careful tests, useful measurements and practical improvements the rest of the team can build on.
What you’ll do
- Measure cycle time, vision inference time and pick success to identify where improvements will have the greatest impact.
- Write and test changes to robot motion, timing and machine vision, then measure their effect on the full pick cycle.
- Build recovery routines for missed picks, bagger jams and camera drift.
- Test the complete workflow with our warehouse management system (WMS) simulator.
- Document your findings and help install the cell in a warehouse alongside our integration partner.
What you’ll bring
- Experience building something with a physical robot or camera—at school, in a lab, at work or on your own.
- Python skills you can use to build, test and debug working software.
- Experience with ROS or ROS 2.
- Patience for hands-on debugging, a methodical approach to testing and care around moving hardware.
School projects, research and personal builds count. We’re interested in what you’ve worked on and how you approach problems.
Useful, but not required
- C++
- Machine vision
- PLCs or industrial automation
Location and schedule
You’ll need to live within commuting distance of our robot cell in Concord. This is a hybrid role with regular on-site hardware work and room for remote software work. We’ll agree on a schedule during hiring that reflects the time needed at the cell.
Interview process
- A 30-minute introductory call.
- A paid day on site, where you’ll make and test a small change to the pick cycle.
- A conversation with our CEO.
