Finance Controller

THE ROLE & THE TEAM 

In this role as Finance Controller within the Logistics Controlling team, you will oversee the planning and financial management of Zalando’s Logistics functions, with a key focus on Transport operations. Handling over 200 million orders and shipping 525 million items each year, Logistics serves as the foundation of Zalando’s success. Our Logistics Controlling department directly manages and plans an annual logistics budget of approximately 3 billion Euros.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Own planning, forecast and reporting activities for our Transport expenses, representing a 10 digit annual budget.
• Come up with meaningful insights and derive data-driven solutions for our operational departments and increase transparency through continuously improving our tooling and reporting landscape.
• Work autonomously with our data to create new metrics and reports and maintain existing ones in close cooperation with our Transport operations, Transport product, Tender and Market Activities and Business Intelligence teams.
• Be a go-to person for our Senior Management, Central Finance, Accounting and Operational teams providing transparency and decision support.
• Actively take part in business case preparations, assumption validation, target setting and budgeting process.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have a university degree in economics, business administration, mathematics, statistics or similar disciplines
• You have at least 3 years professional experience in Controlling, Logistics and/ or similar fields of expertise, with a strong analytical/financial focus (Financial modeling, Analytical tooling, Excel Modelling, Planning & Reporting, business cases, etc.)
• You have a very good understanding of numbers, excellent analytical- & data modeling skills, proven track record of exploring new tools & technologies (Power Pivot would be a big plus), as well as experience with SAP.
• You have a controlling mindset with an ability to challenge & support our stakeholders with ad-hoc analysis to enable our growth strategy, understand key trade-offs and actively support business decisions
• You are fluent in English. You have the capability to not only communicate clearly but also write structurally and understandably
