The Role:
We are hiring a Chief Operating Officer for the Physical Security Team. This highly visible role oversees the group responsible for our physical security – the team that protects the firm, its employees, offices, assets, and operations around the world. The team of 13 across New York, Miami, India, and London will grow to 23 in 2027. The COO will report to the Global Head of Physical Security and partner closely with senior leaders across Blackstone, including Finance, Human Resources, Technology, and Legal & Compliance, Government Relations, and Corporate Affairs.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder and collaborator with a growth mindset and commercial orientation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including strategic planning, budgeting, and headcount and growth planning.
  • Lead talent and organizational matters end to end: hiring, onboarding, compensation planning, professional development, performance management, and retention.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and prioritizing high-value opportunities and challenges related to operational strategy, measuring process efficiency and effectiveness against industry best practices, and implementing changes as needed.
  • Lead operational projects and maintain risk management frameworks (e.g., vendor onboarding, procurement, technology solutions).
  • Connect the dots across teams, offices, and functions, linking information, initiatives, and stakeholders to realize synergies, surface dependencies, anticipate risks, and turn insights into coordinated action aligned with broader strategic priorities.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders and provide senior leadership with timely information to support decision-making and communication.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and collective accountability through ongoing training and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

  • 11+ years of professional experience; bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proven leader and manager who collaborates effectively and is committed to developing others.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and analytical skills, with strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who solves problems and manages a wide range of assignments under demanding deadlines.
  • Exceptional technical skillset; moves seamlessly between strategy and detail.
  • Presence and confidence to engage the firm’s key internal and external constituents and employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrates organizational awareness, sound judgment, and effective stakeholder engagement; skilled at building support for and implementing change.
  • Entrepreneurial and intellectually curious, with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, demonstrated excellence, and the highest professional integrity; thrives in a dynamic environment.

The duties and responsibilities described here are not exhaustive and additional assignments, duties, or responsibilities may be required of this position.  Assignments, duties, and responsibilities may be changed at any time, with or without notice, by Blackstone in its sole discretion.

Expected annual base salary range:

$160,000 - $225,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
