A leading organization is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee project controls, budgets, procurement, commissioning, and closeout for data center or other mission-critical construction projects.
The Senior Project Manager will coordinate closely with construction, supply chain, operations, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires significant owner- or operator-side project management experience, direct responsibility for project financials and vendor procurement, and working knowledge of mission-critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, variances, financial reporting, quality controls, and budget changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate purchasing and vendor sourcing for hardware and software solutions supporting mission-critical environments.
- Obtain vendor quotes, manage purchase orders, monitor deliveries, and reconcile invoices.
- Lead project activities through commissioning, readiness, turnover, and final closeout.
- Coordinate schedules, submittals, long-lead equipment, commissioning activities, and closeout requirements across construction, supply chain, and operations teams.
- Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, execution plans, milestones, RAID logs, trackers, and status reports.
- Coordinate punch-list resolution and turnover activities to support project completion.
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve procurement and delivery issues throughout execution.
- Work independently while balancing project priorities, deadlines, financial responsibilities, and cross-functional dependencies.
Required experience and skills
- 7+ years of project management experience in data center or other mission-critical construction environments.
- Owner- or operator-side project management experience is preferred.
- Direct experience managing project budgets and vendor relationships, beyond schedule management alone.
- Working knowledge of data center mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, building management systems, and physical security.
- Ability to understand procured mission-critical equipment and identify potential concerns within project submittals.
- Direct experience with vendor procurement, purchasing, and sourcing in a corporate procurement environment.
- Experience managing project commissioning and closeout activities.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Smartsheet, or equivalent project management tools.
- PMP certification is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively coordinating cross-functional project responsibilities.
