Job title: RN - Outpatient Surgery (Pre/Post Op)- Part Time Day
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Surgery (Pre/Post Op) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures in an outpatient setting. This role is responsible for patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, recovery, education, and discharge planning while ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The RN collaborates closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and provide recovery care following surgery
- Monitor patient status, including vital signs, pain management, and recovery progress
- Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License upon hire
- National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- CNOR, ACLS, TNCC, or IVPS certifications for Surgical Services
- CNOR, ACLS, TNCC, or IVPS certifications for Ambulatory Surgery Center settings
- IVPS, CPAN, TCAR, or TNCC certifications for PACU/Hospital Acute Care settings
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in pre-operative, post-anesthesia, PACU, or ambulatory surgery settings
- Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of surgical and recovery care processes
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment
