Description

A leading nonprofit organization seeks a compassionate, mission-driven Licensed Optician to join a dedicated mobile clinical team serving the Sarasota, Florida area. This full-time position offers $30–$35 per hour plus comprehensive benefits. Working primarily during school hours, with occasional Saturdays, the Optician will oversee mobile eye clinic operations, conduct pretesting, fit and adjust frames, assist with frame selection, and dispense glasses to groups of student patients. The role emphasizes patient care, teamwork, and a commitment to removing vision barriers that affect learning and opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day mobile eye clinic operations, including vehicle setup, inventory, and workflow management
  • Conduct vision screenings, pre-tests, and take precise optical measurements
  • Fit, adjust, and dispense glasses based on written optical prescriptions
  • Guide patients in frame selection for optimal fit and satisfaction
  • Complete daily reports and administrative tasks efficiently
  • Communicate with patient caregivers for follow-up and feedback
  • Maintain safety standards when operating and parking the clinic vehicle
  • Ensure clinic and mobile unit remain clean, organized, and well-stocked
  • Follow all established health and safety protocols
  • Additional duties as required to support the mobile clinic's mission

Who You Are:

  • A licensed optician in the State of Florida
  • Holds a valid driver's license with a good driving record; familiar with the Sarasota area and comfortable using GPS
  • Able and willing to drive a company vehicle around Sarasota, DeSoto, and Charlotte counties.
  • Experienced in working with children and diverse populations
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a mobile, remote team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn EHR and project management systems a plus
  • Spanish language skills are an asset
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs. and remain mobile throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Committed to service excellence, empathy, equity, and integrity

Qualifications:

  • Florida Optician License (required)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (driving transcript required)
  • Experience working with children and diverse populations
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug screening
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; EHR experience a plus
