We are currently looking for a Product Safety Engineering Intern to join our team in Franklin, TN and Smyrna, TN. The Product Safety Engineering team is responsible for evaluating vehicle safety performance, investigating field issues, and analyzing technical data to identify potential safety concerns and opportunities for risk mitigation. This internship provides exposure to automotive engineering, vehicle testing, safety regulations, data analytics, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, legal, quality, and regulatory compliance teams.


A Day in the Life:

  • Assist with vehicle and component-level field investigations related to product safety concerns.
  • Support crash analyses and technical evaluations to assess vehicle and system performance.
  • Prepare technical engineering reports that communicate investigation findings and support business activities.
  • Support child safety seat fitment evaluations and child and teen safety advocacy initiatives.
  • Participate in community outreach and STEM activities focused on traffic safety awareness and education.

Who We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Students entering their Junior or Senior year at the start of the upcoming academic term.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle design and safety systems, including airbags, seat belts, energy management systems, electronic stability control (ESC), advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and vehicle dynamics.
  • Aptitude for conducting investigations, assessing component and system performance, and preparing technical reports.
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and interpreting technical data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above (Candidates will be required to provide an official or unofficial transcript during the application process for verification.)
  • Ability to perform work onsite at Franklin, TN and Smyrna, TN as needed.
