Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
The pace is fast, collaboration occurs on a regular basis, and continuous focus on automation. You will be responsible for OPEX/cost strategy and non-revenue generating (NRG) wafer forecasting for all SSD and Automotive products. You will work closely with Micron’s Global Supply Chain, NAND PDTs, System PDTs, Finance, Fab and Product Engineering groups to support data analysis of prequal volume and cost optimization strategy.
As a Senior IE-NPI Engineer in the NAND Product Engineering (PE) organization, you will lead and drive R&D prequal cost optimization plan for SSD and Automative programs. This role is responsible for driving tops-down NAND wafers planning across storage programs, while following Micron’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes.
The successful candidate will operate with a high level of ownership and independence. This role requires the ability to translate system development plans into robust wafer demand projections, NAND optimization opportunities, and clearly communicate R&D prequal cost analysis and impacts to leadership and stakeholders.
As part of Micron’s AI transformation journey, this role is expected to apply approved AI technologies, automation, and data-driven methodologies to improve operational efficiency, enhance reporting and analysis, identify risks and dependencies, and support high-quality decision-making across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage R&D NPI wafers and OpEx/cost strategy across all storage products. Develop and maintain NPI planning models to translate program build plans into NAND wafer requirements, yield analysis, system qualification schedules and fab capacity to support wafer projections.
- Support roadmap-driven planning for new technology nodes and product introductions. Collaborate with NAND PDT, System PDT, Finance and Cost Accounting, Global Supply Chain (GSC), and Business Units to capture and model product development requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the System PDT team to develop and enhance planning models that accurately represent SSD product development requirements and support data-driven decision-making.
- Own and maintain prequal cost models by analyzing key cost drivers, including SSD and wafer volumes, development timing, yields, cycle times, drive and wafer cost to support budget planning, executive reviews, and cost optimization initiatives that improve R&D prequal spending efficiency.
- Perform what-if scenario analyses to evaluate alternative system schedules, qualification strategies, and yield improvement opportunities. Responsible for in-depth data analysis SSD Prequal volume and expenses plan over plan delta.
- Assess impacts of fab boundary conditions, capacity constraints, System qualification date and prequal expense. Fab boundary conditions analysis is not limited to NPI wafers but inclusive Engineering wafers for each tech node.
- Recommend optimized solutions to NAND and System PDT that balance prequal cost targets, NAND schedules and system development timing for qualification. Provide data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to support leaders’ decision-making and business reviews.
- Integrates AI-enabled tools and insights to enhance productivity, quality, and decision-making, while exercising sound judgment and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements. Leverage AI-enabled analytics for predictive volume, cost, and demand modeling.
- Collaborate with GSC and Fab SIC teams to translate and communicate top-down product development demand and wafer signals through NPP and related planning processes on a quarterly basis.
- Manage SSD off-cycle requests through Prequal Jira, ensuring timely approval, and maintain accurate budget and expense records.
- Manage quarterly System QS and NAND QR date changes, ensure alignment with Finance and maintain accurate planning forecasting and reporting.
- Time flexibility to support global stakeholders from different Micron sites virtually.
## Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in engineering, industrial engineering, data analytics, or any related field, with 3+ years of equivalent experience in electronic or semiconductor field.
- Strong meeting leadership, collaboration, and influencing skills that drive issue resolution and clear next steps.
- Strong ability to prioritize and execute across multiple initiatives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation, resilience, and passion for driving results.
- Hands-on experience developing agentic workflows and AI-enabled solutions using AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot).
