Description

The Connecticut General Assembly’s nonpartisan Commission on Racial Equity in Public Health seeks a full-time analyst. 

Primary responsibilities include conducting racial and ethnic disparate impact analyses on certain bills and issuing racial and ethnic impact statements on those bills. The analyst will also staff Commission activities, conduct data and policy analysis, track bills within the legislative process, major policy issue areas and committee activities;and prepare written and verbal responses to inquiries from legislators, caucus staff, stakeholders, and partners. The analyst will report to the Executive Director of the Commission. 

Requires superior writing, research, and analytical skills; knowledge of social determinants and health and racial disparities in Connecticut and nationally; ability to navigate and analyze data including but not limited to, using population-level and sample-level data from state and federal agencies, and external sources; nonpartisanship; sound judgment; attention to detail; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under pressure and be willing to work overtime during legislative sessions.

Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, sociology, economics, demography, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
