This is a non-exempt position.Participates in the work of a crew of Maintenance Technicians and Seasonal Workers involved in the cleaning and maintenance of trails, greenways, and blueways. Typical tasks include, but are not limited to: trash collection, mowing, construction and maintenance of natural surface trails, light construction projects, and amenity maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs work in the completion of greenway and blueway maintenance and trail construction
- Knowledge of and ability to skillfully operate a wide variety of mowers and equipment, including: Toro 5900, Ventrac, zero-turn and walk-behind mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, front-end loader, forklift, backhoe, bobcat, mini skid steer, chainsaws, trail work tools, and tractors
- Inspects equipment for proper safety and ensures that truck is equipped with all necessary equipment for the day’s assignment
- Load/unloads materials such as soil, mulch, gravel, etc.
- Performs minor repairs of greenways, blueway, and trails
- Operates heavy and light equipment for snow/ice removal
- Follows established safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months(?) experience and/or training in trailbuilding and maintenance, landscape and turf maintenance, construction or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Ability to perform physical labor in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed
