• Base Salary Level B $132,533 - $157,381 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will lead and support preclinical neuroscience research investigating the interactions between sleep, circadian biology, and binge eating disorder using established rodent models. The role will involve designing and conducting sophisticated in vivo experiments, with a particular emphasis on wireless EEG/EMG telemetry recordings, behavioural phenotyping, and neurobiological approaches to characterise the mechanisms linking sleep disruption and maladaptive eating behaviour. Working within a multidisciplinary translational neuroscience program, the Fellow will contribute to experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant development, and the supervision of students and research staff, helping to advance the laboratory's internationally recognised research program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• conduct preclinical neuroscience research on sleep, circadian rhythms, and binge eating disorders using rodent models

• lead complex in vivo studies, including EEG/EMG telemetry, behavioural testing, surgeries, and pharmacological interventions

• analyse behavioural, physiological, and electrophysiological data using advanced statistical and computational methods

• publish findings, present at conferences, and contribute to grants, ethics submissions, and research reporting

• build collaborations, translate research into clinical applications, and engage with academic and industry partners

• mentor students, manage laboratory operations, maintain compliance, and promote research excellence and integrity.

About you

• PhD in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biomedical Science, or a closely related discipline.

• demonstrated experience conducting preclinical neuroscience research using rodent models and behavioural pnotyping techniques

• expertise in in vivo neuroscience methods, including EEG/EMG telemetry, surgery, and pharmacological interventions

• strong skills in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and computational approaches to complex datasets

• proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and successful research funding contributions

• experience supervising students, managing laboratory operations, and fostering collaborative research partnerships.
