Role Purpose

The Head of Finance IT is responsible for leading the technology strategy, architecture, and delivery for the Finance application domain, with primary focus on AI use cases and SAP Finance and related financial systems.

The role acts as the strategic IT partner to the Finance organization, ensuring that technology solutions support financial operations, regulatory compliance, and the company’s broader digital transformation ambitions.

A key responsibility is to lead the Finance IT stream within the company’s SAP S/4HANA transformation program, ensuring successful implementation and long-term sustainability of the future Finance technology landscape.

The role ensures strong alignment between business strategy, enterprise architecture, project delivery, and operational services, enabling Finance to operate efficiently and innovate through technology.

Key Responsibilities

Finance IT Strategy

• Define and maintain the Finance IT strategy and technology roadmap aligned with business and enterprise IT strategy.
• Drive modernization and continuous improvement of SAP Finance and related financial applications.
• Drive AI use cases in the Finance area

S/4HANA Transformation Leadership

• Lead the Finance domain within the SAP S/4HANA transformation program.
• Ensure alignment between Finance business transformation goals and the S/4HANA solution architecture and implementation.
• Coordinate Finance-related activities across architecture, delivery, data migration, testing, and deployment.

Portfolio & Delivery Governance

• Own and manage the Finance IT project and program portfolio.
• Ensure delivery of strategic initiatives, regulatory projects, and operational improvements.

Architecture & Technology Governance

• Ensure Finance solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and integration principles.
• Drive application lifecycle management, system simplification, and technology modernization.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure strong alignment with application maintenance and operational support teams.
• Maintain stable, secure, and reliable financial application services.

Stakeholder Partnership

• Act as the primary IT partner for Finance leadership and key stakeholders.
• Translate business priorities into technology capabilities and delivery initiatives.

Leadership & Organizational Development

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of approximately 25–30 professionals across portfolio management, architecture, and delivery.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Key Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments, preferably within large organizations.

A key accountability of this role is to lead the Finance IT domain within the company’s SAP S/4HANA transformation program, ensuring that the transformation delivers modernized finance capabilities, scalable technology architecture, and sustainable operational services.

The Head of Finance IT ensures alignment between business strategy, enterprise architecture, technology investments, and operational service delivery, enabling Finance to operate effectively and innovate through technology.

Key Responsibilities

Finance IT Strategy & Domain Leadership

• Define and own the IT strategy and technology roadmap for the Finance domain, aligned with enterprise strategy and Finance business priorities.
• Ensure the Finance application landscape enables efficient financial operations, regulatory compliance, and business insight.
• Drive the long-term evolution of SAP Finance and related applications, including modernization, simplification, and integration with enterprise platforms.
• Identify opportunities to leverage automation, advanced analytics, and digital technologies within Finance processes.
• Ensure strong alignment between Finance IT, enterprise architecture, and other business technology domains.

SAP S/4HANA Transformation Leadership

• Lead the Finance IT domain within the enterprise SAP S/4HANA transformation program.
• Define the target application architecture and roadmap for Finance as part of the S/4HANA journey.
• Coordinate Finance-related transformation activities across solution architecture, project delivery, data migration, testing, and deployment.
• Ensure strong alignment between Finance business transformation goals and S/4HANA solution design.
• Partner with Finance leadership, program management, system integrators, and enterprise architects to ensure successful delivery.
• Ensure operational readiness and long-term sustainability of the S/4HANA Finance platform following implementation.

Portfolio & Program Leadership

• Own and govern the Finance IT project and program portfolio, ensuring investments deliver business value.
• Drive prioritization and execution of strategic initiatives, regulatory projects, and operational improvements.
• Ensure strong program governance, risk management, and benefits realization.
• Provide clear portfolio visibility and reporting to senior IT and business leadership.

Architecture & Technology Governance

• Ensure Finance IT solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards and technology principles.
• Oversee the work of application and solution architects within the Finance domain.
• Drive application lifecycle management, standardization, and system simplification.
• Ensure strong integration between SAP Finance and surrounding enterprise systems.

Operational Excellence & Service Alignment

• Maintain strong collaboration with application maintenance and operational support teams.
• Ensure Finance applications deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing operational services.
• Monitor service performance, operational risks, and system stability.
• Ensure that all new solutions are designed with operational sustainability and service management best practices.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary IT partner for the Finance leadership team, including CFO organization stakeholders.
• Translate Finance business needs into technology strategies, capabilities, and delivery initiatives.
• Facilitate strong collaboration between Finance, IT leadership, enterprise architecture, and transformation programs.
• Communicate the Finance IT roadmap, transformation progress, and investment priorities to senior stakeholders.

Leadership & Organizational Development

• Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of approximately 25–30 IT professionals.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure effective resource planning, capability development, and succession planning.
• Promote collaboration across global teams, vendors, and internal IT organizations.

Vendor & Financial Management

• Manage relationships with strategic technology vendors, system integrators, and service providers, including partners supporting the S/4HANA program.
• Ensure strong vendor governance, performance management, and delivery oversight.
• Manage the Finance IT budget and technology investments, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services and programs.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related discipline.

Experience

• 12+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments, preferably within large or complex organizations.
• Extensive experience with SAP Finance (FI/CO) and related financial systems.
• Proven experience leading SAP S/4HANA or large ERP transformation programs.
• Demonstrated experience managing large IT teams and complex application portfolios.
• Strong background in IT strategy, enterprise application delivery, and technology governance.
• Experience working closely with senior Finance stakeholders and transformation programs.
