Description

WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

This position reports to the Site Leader and leads the Kalamazoo site's AI transformation, connecting business priorities, emerging technologies, and operational excellence into measurable financial results across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering & Tech Services, Safety, Finance, and Quality.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

The Director leads the site AI team — AI Data Engineers, AI Data Scientist, AI IMEx / Continuous Improvement Lead, AI Adoption & Engagement Lead, and AI Data Quality & Compliance Lead — and is the single point of accountability for the team's Front Door engagement model across every site organization.

The Director owns the site AI portfolio and value realization, running the team as an internal consulting and delivery organization — an "innovation factory" — rather than an AI research group. Every initiative is held to a single test: how much money, time, risk, or capacity it saves the business. If a project cannot answer that, it is not the right priority.

The Director sets the operating rhythm (quarterly identification of the top business problems with plant leadership; monthly portfolio, ROI, risk, and adoption review; weekly blocker removal and cross-functional alignment) and serves as the bridge between Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Safety, IT/Digital, Finance, and Executives.

The Director is accountable for talent, enterprise alignment, responsible-AI and GxP compliance posture, and the removal of barriers that prevent successful adoption and scaling of solutions.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

  • Set the vision, strategy, priorities, and operating model for the Kalamazoo Site AI Manufacturing Transformation Team in alignment with site business objectives and enterprise AI, Digital, Quality, and Compliance expectations.

  • Serve as the primary AI transformation partner to the Site Lead and Site Leadership Team, translating business priorities into a prioritized AI, analytics, automation, and data-enabled transformation portfolio.

  • Lead the AI opportunity intake process across site functions and ensure each opportunity is evaluated by business impact, feasibility, speed, risk, compliance impact, data readiness, adoption readiness, and strategic value.

  • Ensure all AI initiatives clearly define expected value, baseline performance, business owner, adoption plan, data requirements, compliance controls, cybersecurity considerations, support model, and transition path before advancing beyond pilot or prototype.

  • Lead and coach the site AI team including AI Data Engineering, AI Data Science, IMEx/Continuous Improvement, Adoption & Engagement, and Data Security/Quality/Compliance capabilities.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, Digital, Process Automation, IMEx/Operational Excellence, Validation, Cybersecurity, and enterprise AI/Product teams to remove barriers and accelerate high-value use cases.

  • Drive a governance rhythm including leadership portfolio reviews, value realization reviews, risk and compliance reviews, adoption reviews, and execution alignment meetings.

  • Ensure AI solutions are designed for sustainable adoption by integrating process redesign, standard work, training, user feedback, change management, and measurable behavior change into deployment plans.

  • Ensure responsible and compliant AI implementation by embedding quality, GxP, data privacy, data integrity, cybersecurity, model risk, validation, documentation, and audit-readiness expectations into the lifecycle.

  • Own value realization reporting for the site AI portfolio, including savings, productivity, capacity, cycle time, risk reduction, quality improvement, compliance improvement, and colleague experience outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities to scale successful site AI solutions across the network and bring enterprise AI capabilities back to the site when they can solve Kalamazoo business problems.

  • Promote a practical AI culture focused on business value, human-centered adoption, informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and patient impact.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional transformation, systems, operational improvement, digital enablement, analytics, automation, or AI-related initiatives in a complex business or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience developing business cases, prioritizing portfolios, leading governance rhythms, removing cross-functional barriers, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
