Maintenance Supervisor — Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Location: Winnipeg, MB
Shift: Afternoon Shift (Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM | Weekly & Weekend OT as needed)
Reports To: Operations Manager
About the Role GFL Environmental is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead shop operations at our Winnipeg Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). You will oversee daily equipment maintenance, manage shop personnel, and ensure all processing systems—including conveyors, compactors, and industrial electronics—run at peak safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and coach maintenance technicians. Direct daily work, evaluate performance, and assist with hiring, compensation, and disciplinary decisions.
Maintenance Operations: Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on processing equipment (conveyors, compactors, motors, and facility electronics).
Hands-on Repairs & Diagnostics: Perform complex mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs alongside your team when necessary.
Quality & Safety Control: Inspect internal and third-party repairs to ensure alignment with GFL safety standards, Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health regulations, and federal guidelines.
Data & Inventory Management: Log all preventative and corrective maintenance into GFL’s maintenance management software. Track repair history, manage shop records, and approve standard operational expenses.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 1+ years of experience in a lead technician or supervisory role within an industrial or process-manufacturing environment.
Technical Expertise: Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in welding, compactor repair, conveyor systems, and industrial electronic motor diagnostics.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Manitoba workplace safety regulations, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and environmental standards.
Systems Proficiency: Computer literacy to manage work orders, log equipment data, and run diagnostic software.
Licensing: Valid Driver’s License required.
