Description
Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!
E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.
We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.
About the Role
Join our RF Product Development team as an intern supporting component and assembly prototyping, testing, and debugging activities. This role emphasizes software development skills to drive automation across ground-based RF test systems, data acquisition, and fault analysis workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Support prototyping, integration, and bring-up of RF components and assemblies in a lab environment
- Perform functional, performance, and environmental testing on RF hardware
- Troubleshoot and debug RF circuits, assemblies, and test setups to isolate root causes of failures
- Design and develop software/scripts to automate ground-based RF test systems and reduce manual test time
- Program data acquisition routines to collect measurement data from RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters)
- Develop analysis routines/algorithms to process acquired data for fault detection and anomaly identification
- Build and validate data pipelines that produce "proofed" (verified/cleaned) data streams to support calibration activities and fault resolution
- Document test procedures, automation scripts, and analysis methods for repeatability and knowledge transfer
- Collaborate with RF engineers, test engineers, and software developers to translate manual test processes into automated workflows
- Assist in creating dashboards, reports, or visualizations to communicate test results and fault trends to engineering teams
- Support calibration activities for RF test equipment and assemblies as needed
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Foundational knowledge of RF/microwave concepts (S-parameters, signal chains, impedance matching, etc.)
- Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C#, or similar languages
- Familiarity with instrument control/automation frameworks (e.g., PyVISA, SCPI commands, LabVIEW, VISA/GPIB interfaces)
- Basic understanding of data analysis techniques (statistical analysis, signal processing, or similar)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a lab environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RF test equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power sensors)
- Exposure to automated test equipment (ATE) systems or test executive software (e.g., TestStand)
- Experience with fault detection algorithms, anomaly detection, or machine learning basics
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and software development best practices
- Coursework or project experience in RF/microwave engineering, embedded systems, or signal processing
- Experience with databases or data pipeline tools for managing test data
Other Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship may be required due to export control/ITAR regulations (add/remove based on your organization's needs)
- Ability to work on-site in a laboratory setting
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university program for the duration of the internship
