Power BI Developer
Location:UK-based role
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: Upto 47,000 Per Annum
About The Role
As the Power BI Developer, you will play a key role in the Insight and Reporting Team. You will be working closely with client and insight function to translate requirements and build them into dashboards and reports that allow the business to generate fast, intuitive insights that have a meaningful impact and influence on how we operate.
You’ll be working closely with various stakeholders to ensure reporting is scalable, trusted, and easy to use. If you’re passionate about turning data into meaningful insights and enjoy solving analytical challenges, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards from approved wireframes and functional specifications
- Develop intuitive reporting experiences across desktop and web platforms
- Bring reports to life with Power BI tools e.g. bookmarks, drill-throughs, tooltips, dynamic titles, conditional formatting
- Optimise reports for rendering performance, including managing visual count, query reduction settings and aggregations
- Write clear and well-structured DAX measures to support report-level calculations
- Use DAX Studio and Performance Analyser to diagnose and resolve slow-running measures
- Use Power Query (M) to shape and transform data at the report level
- Write clean, documented code
- Embed AI-driven visuals and capabilities within Power BI reports where appropriate
- Stay current with new Power BI features and AI capabilities
- Test reports thoroughly prior to publication and follow the team's Dev, Test, Production deployment pipeline
- Document reports clearly in the appropriate catalogue, including purpose, data sources and known limitations
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience in a commercial environment
- Advanced DAX skills, including time intelligence and complex calculated measures
- Strong experience with Power Query (M) for data transformation
- Experience working with and generating design specifications or wireframes rather than building from scratch each time
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Able to communicate effectively, flagging potential blockers and working collaboratively across functions
- Comfortable building and interpreting wireframes
- Experience with data warehouses is desirable
- Experience with source control and deployment pipelines for BI assets is desirable
- Experience of AI visuals and using Copilot in Power BI is desirable
