About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer, Medical Education (Placement Education Coordinator) to provide leadership in the delivery of high-quality teaching, curriculum development and educational innovation within the College of Medicine and Public Health. This part-time academic role is focused on creating exceptional student learning experiences, advancing contemporary teaching practices and technologies, and supporting the continuous improvement, quality assurance and accreditation of medical education programs. The successful candidate will also play a key role in developing partnerships and placement opportunities that enhance student learning and graduate employability.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of medical education programs, ensuring engaging, student-centred learning experiences across a range of teaching modes.

• Coordinate and oversee curriculum development, topic and course delivery, while driving innovative teaching practices and the effective use of educational technologies.

• Provide academic leadership, mentoring and support to students and teaching teams, fostering student success, professional development and excellence in teaching.

• Contribute to accreditation, compliance, quality assurance and external partnership activities, including placement development, community engagement and industry collaboration.

About You

You are a passionate and experienced medical educator with a strong commitment to student success, teaching excellence and continuous improvement in higher education. You bring demonstrated leadership in curriculum design, course coordination and innovative teaching practices, alongside the ability to build meaningful relationships with students, colleagues and external partners. With a health professional background and a contemporary approach to learning and teaching, you are motivated to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals through excellence in education and collaboration.

To be successful in this position, you will:

• Hold a PhD (or equivalent qualification), a relevant health professional qualification and current Ahpra registration, with substantial experience teaching in tertiary education.

• Demonstrate a proven track record of excellence in teaching, curriculum development and course or topic coordination, with the ability to enhance student outcomes through contemporary educational practices.

• Bring expertise in contemporary educational practices and learning technologies, with the ability to innovate, lead teaching teams and drive continuous improvement in learning and teaching.

• Showcase exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, with experience contributing to quality assurance, accreditation activities and productive partnerships across academia, industry and the broader community.

Appointment to this role is conditional on the completion of required pre-employment checks and declarations, each of which must be satisfactory to the University.

• Flinders University will require a current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration which is satisfactory to the University.
