Experienced Facilities Plant Maintenance Specialist

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Facilities Plant Maintenance Specialist (Level C) to join our team at Kennedy Space Center, FL!

The Facilities Plaint Maintenance Specialist will support Experimental Systems Group (ESG).  ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Basic knowledge of construction
  • Able to read basic blueprints and drawings
  • Provide general support in response to routine trouble calls
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer service concepts
  • Basic knowledge in the repair and maintenance of manufacturing plant and office facilities
  • Basic knowledge of power tools and repair equipment
  • Being a team player
  • Interacts with internal and external organizations
  • Oversee contractor on site activities
  • Work with support organizations including IT, EHS, HR, and Security
  • Support cleaning of the facilities as needed
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance repairs
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any safety hazards
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to understand customer requirements
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best maintenance and safety procedures

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Experience working from heights & using fall protection equipment with weight limitations
  • Willing and able to work any shift, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Willing and able to support a 24/7 on-call environment
  • Experience with Maintenance and Facilities
  • Experience with janitorial/custodial services

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with Haxtrax & MSDS (Material Safety Data
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Experience working across organizations and cross functional groups to ensure project coordinating, implementation, and completion
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Experience operating a Forklift
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, assembly, and/or aerospace environment
  • Experience in Facilities Maintenance
