Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
The AVP, Major Giving plays a central leadership role in advancing VHC Health Foundation’s evolution toward a highly intentional, relationship-centered, and performance-driven major gifts program. This role blends frontline fundraising, strategic leadership, and partnership with senior executives to help translate VHC Health’s clinical excellence and long-term vision into compelling philanthropic opportunities.
The AVP, Major Giving serves as a trusted thought partner to the Foundation President and works closely with executive and physician leaders to shape strategy, strengthen discipline, and elevate the overall effectiveness of major gift fundraising.
VHC Health Foundation is building a major gifts program grounded in focus, preparation, and follow-through. Success in this role comes from sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to move relationships forward with clarity and purpose.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred.
Experience:
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in major gifts fundraising, preferably in a hospital or academic medical center.
- 3+ years recent experience managing frontline fundraisers.
- Demonstrated success securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
- Ability to partner effectively with physicians, executives, and boards.
- Demonstrated judgment in balancing opportunity, organizational readiness, donor intent, and timing.
Certification/Licensure:
CFRE preferred
