About this Role

Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC (RBC) is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team based out of Vancouver, Washington.

 

This is a field-based position, not a shop-only role. The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic will travel to RBC job sites to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and fleet vehicles. Frequent travel is required, including approximately 60% out-of-state travel.

 

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, experienced mechanic who is comfortable troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of equipment, including skid steers, mini excavators, excavators, dozers, plows, fleet trucks, and other construction equipment. Candidates should have strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding, and general equipment repair.

 

RBC will provide a service truck and specialized tools. Employees are required to provide their own basic mechanic tools.

 

What You'll Do

Position Responsibilities

• Travel to RBC job sites to perform field diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles
• Diagnose equipment issues and determine appropriate repairs
• Perform diesel engine repairs and preventative maintenance
• Inspect, maintain, and repair transmission systems
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems
• Perform repairs and maintenance on hydraulic and air brake systems
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems
• Repair and maintain HVAC systems
• Perform safety inspections
• Complete oil changes and routine preventative maintenance as needed
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed
• Maintain accurate service and repair information
• Maintain a clean and organized service truck, work area, tools, and equipment
• Safely and professionally represent RBC while working at job sites
• Travel frequently, including approximately 60% out-of-state travel

 

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience performing heavy equipment mechanic work
• Diesel mechanic certification or equivalent demonstrated heavy diesel mechanic experience
• Strong experience with heavy diesel repair and maintenance
• Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems
• Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical systems
• Knowledge of diesel and gasoline fuel systems
• Ability to perform electrical and engine diagnostics using scanners and diagnostic equipment
• Welding experience
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and field personnel
• Ability to independently manage a schedule and organize work priorities
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including approximately 60% out of state
• Valid driver's license
• Must have own basic mechanic tools
• Must meet DOT 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on Ford 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engines
• Experience working on GM 6.6L Duramax diesel engines
• Safety Inspection Certification
• Previous management or leadership experience
• Class A CDL highly preferred

Pay: $35.00–$50.00 per hour, depending on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $35.00/Hr. - USD $48.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
