Meat Specialist

We are hiring a Meat Specialist at our Lougheed PriceSmart Foods location in Burnaby, BC.

The successful candidate must have open availability and be available for 40 hours per week.

You will be responsible for:

• Support the Meat department and programs, including cutting, slicing and trimming meat products.
• Use equipment such as knives, cutters, meat saws and grinders.
• Act as a coach, mentor, and resource to team members while making it a fun place to work.
• Achieve operational standards (e.g., merchandising/marketing, customer service, cleanliness, food safety, ordering, receiving, shrink management, scheduling, health and safety, etc.).
• Achieve and maintain responsibility for ordering and effectively controlling all department related costs (e.g. food, labour, packaging, etc.).
• Demonstrate a willingness to serve and assist in the service of customers as needed; serve as a customer service role model for department team members.
• Work with the Department Manager to achieve the department’s business plan with a focus on financial results and targeted objectives (e.g. sales, productivity, margin, expenses).
• Participate in monthly stocktaking and inventory counts.

You have:

• A minimum of 2 years experience operating meat saws, grinders and using knives.
• Ability to identify different meat cuts.
• Passion for great food and providing outstanding customer service.
• Strong work ethic and “let’s get it done” attitude.
• Integrity, enthusiasm, and willingness to Go the Extra Mile.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Merchandising and selling.
  • Inventory control, shrink management and stocktaking.
  • Food Safety.
  • Computer skills and experience (or a willingness to learn).
• Food Safe Certification (considered an asset).
• Fluent in Mandarin and/or Cantonese (considered an asset).

Compensation Details:

$18.50 - $22.75

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
