QC Lead

QC Lead Job Description

The QC Lead is responsible for overseeing the activities of the QC department and the training and direction of inspection personnel. Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the QC Lead works with the other Manufacturing Department Leads to promote safety and to ensure that the company’s established product quality standards are regularly met.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control team leadership including training, development and monitoring all inspectors, and assignment & prioritization of QC tasks.
• Perform or assign incoming inspection of raw materials, and outside processed parts and fabrications using controlled tools to meet purchase order and design drawing requirements
• Perform or assign First Article Inspections of internally or externally processed parts and fabrications
• Perform or assign random QC audits of shop personnel in=process inspections of internally processed parts and fabrications and perform in=process inspections as needed
• Perform final inspection of various pump assemblies, and in-house fabricated and machined parts using controlled tools to meet design drawing and traveler requirements
• Perform inspection and analysis of customer returned and submitted products
• Make recommendations for practical and Cascade capable shop methods of rework and/or problem resolution for bringing nonconforming parts into conformance
• Communicate with authorizing personnel to document appropriate steps for moving forward to address nonconforming parts and material issues
• Follow-up on all dispositions and verify reworked part conformance to complete and close NCRs in the unipoint NC system
• Monitor and maintain the controlled and calibrated tools and equipment program in unipoint
• Assign or perform calibration of internally calibrated inspection tools
• Monitor and report monthly production quality data to the Plan Manager and identify and recommend improvements for inspection and production quality controls and methods
• Drive safety and housekeeping practices within the QC department and throughout the plant
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of QC inspectors, and aid in the hiring of new inspection personnel
• Promote and practice Quality Awareness and Quality Culture within the Quality Control department.

Skills

• Read precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.
• Read and understand blueprints, specifications, procedures, and work instructions.
• Shop math including; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry
• Operation of Roamer CMM Inspection Arm
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills and time management
• PC navigation and use of MS Office and Uni-point programs

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years QC inspection experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
• Familiarity with tool calibration practices
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Willing to be forklift trained
