SUMMARY (Why) – Purpose of the position

 

The FAST Master Data Manager is a finance systems and master data lead within the Finance Application Systems Transformation (FAST) organization. The role is responsible for supporting the design, operation, governance, and continuous improvement of finance master data capabilities within J.D. Edwards (JDE), with a focus on reliable close execution, strong controls, and consistent finance data standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What)

 

Core Accountabilities (Build / Run / Optimize)

BUILD – Functional Design, Knowledge Transfer Enablement, and Change Delivery

  • Serve as a functional subject matter expert for finance master data configuration, posting logic, integrations, and embedded controls within assigned domain(s)
  • Lead requirements definition and translate finance business needs into clear, testable functional specifications
  • Partner with IT delivery teams to ensure solutions are scalable, controlled, and aligned to finance and audit requirements
  • Support Knowledge Transfer (KT) and TSA Exit enablement within assigned domain(s), helping the FAST organization build sustainable operating capability
  • Create and maintain foundational operating artifacts where documentation does not exist, including:
    • Runbooks and playbooks for daily, weekly, monthly, and close‑critical activities
    • SOPs, job aids, decision trees, and exception‑handling guidance
    • Documentation and evidence standards aligned to SOX and audit requirements
    • A sustainable documentation repository with ownership and version discipline
  • Support the operational instrumentation required for a scalable service model, including:
    • Definition of KPIs and metrics for KT progress, readiness, stability, and quality
    • Design and adoption of a case management / intake and logging approach to ensure support interventions are captured, categorized, and traceable
  • Coordinate functional testing, UAT, and release readiness for finance-impacting changes
  • Help deliver enhancements and projects with appropriate controls and minimal risk to close, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Support enterprise initiatives such as entity setup, integrations, system enhancements, and transition‑related stabilization

RUN – Operational Stability, Close Readiness, and Controls

  • Support functional stability and predictable operation of finance applications and finance master data within assigned domain(s)
  • Ensure repeatable, high‑quality close outcomes, including cut‑off discipline and defect prevention
  • Safeguard SOX compliance and audit readiness through strong system controls and disciplined execution
  • Serve as a functional escalation point for close-critical, audit-impacting, or high-risk finance system or data issues
  • Partner with FAST Analysts and managed services within the tiered support and escalation model, including:
    • Incident and defect triage and prioritization
    • Functional root‑cause analysis and impact assessment
    • Validation of fixes prior to deployment
  • Use recurring issue trends and logged intervention data to reduce repeat defects and improve stability over time

 

OPTIMIZE – Simplify, Standardize, and Improve

  • Continuously identify opportunities to simplify configuration, reduce manual workarounds, and eliminate unnecessary complexity
  • Drive standardization of finance application and finance master data patterns, controls, and usage
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Data teams to strengthen embedded controls and data quality
  • Support automation, analytics, and AI readiness as outcomes of stable operations and strong data discipline
  • Contribute to FAST roadmap planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement work within assigned finance master data domain(s)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Enable and control finance-relevant attributes within enterprise master data, including business units, chart of accounts, posting logic, reference data, and legal entities (Strategic / Major)
  • Provide technical and control-plane enablement for finance attributes associated with customer and vendor data, without owning or stewarding the underlying business master data (Strategic / Significant)
  • Ensure alignment with Enterprise MDM standards, governance frameworks, and decision rights to maintain consistency across systems (Strategic / Significant)
  • Coordinate close‑critical changes, including cut‑off discipline, testing, and release readiness, to protect financial operations (Strategic / Major)
  • Safeguard close integrity, auditability, and financial reporting accuracy through disciplined system and data management (Strategic / Major)
  • Conduct impact assessments and validation of master data changes, ensuring no adverse impact on finance processes or reporting (Tactical / Significant)
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Data teams to maintain data integrity and control compliance across finance-relevant attributes (Tactical / Significant)

 

Depending on assignment, the FAST Master Data Manager may support one or more of the following finance system and master data domains:

·        Accounting‑to‑Report (A2R / Close): GL, close, valuation, FX, intercompany, transfer pricing, and costing system enablement

·        Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P): AP, accruals, liabilities, and P2P‑related close dependencies

·        Order‑to‑Cash (O2C): AR, billing, invoicing, collections, and revenue‑impacting configurations

·        Finance Master Data Enablement: Enablement and control of finance‑relevant attributes (e.g., GL structures, accounting attributes, reference data) aligned to Enterprise MDM standards

·        SOX & Controls: Finance application security, access, segregation‑of‑duties, and audit support

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS (How)

 

1.     Essential skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Strong understanding of finance master data structures, including COA, legal entities, and accounting attributes
  • Experience with enterprise MDM frameworks and governance models
  • Hands-on experience in JDE finance systems and master data configuration
  • Knowledge of interdependencies between master data, transactions, and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting close-critical changes and controlled release management
  • Understanding of finance controls, audit, and compliance requirements
