  • Primary Guidewell Contact: Program Manager, Accepted
  • Location / Service Area: Remote (Please note: Due to state-specific independent contractor regulations, we are currently unable to accept applications from residents of California, Massachusetts, New York, or New Jersey.)
  • Typical Service Parameters: Project-based client packages and hourly consultations, subject to contractor availability and client matching

Role Summary

Accepted, a Guidewell Education brand, is a premier admissions consulting firm providing one-on-one guidance to applicants navigating college, graduate, MBA, law, med, and healthcare admissions.

Guidewell Education is seeking experienced Medical/Healthcare School Admissions Consultants (1099 Independent Contractors). Consultants provide expert guidance to aspiring medical/healthcare students while maintaining flexibility over their own availability and client intake.

Scope of Services

  • Work one-on-one with applicants, helping them navigate the admissions process, which could include school selection, brainstorming, primary and secondary application revisions, personal statement editing, work activity/experience description revisions, resume construction and editing, interview preparation, waitlist strategy, and decision counseling.
  • Conduct free introductory consultations with prospective applicants to discuss goals and initial questions.
  • Prepare for client sessions independently and deliver services aligned with agreed-upon professional and privacy standards.
  • Maintain basic service records necessary for billing, compliance, and client continuity.

Availability & Client Scheduling

  • Contractors set their own schedule and capacity.
  • Due to client demand, candidates with the capacity for 15 hours per week or more during peak application cycles are preferred. Availability does not guarantee client volume.
  • Contractors manage their own calendars directly with clients to ensure agreed-upon package deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Contractors remain free to provide services to other clients or businesses, subject to standard confidentiality and non-conflict obligations.

Contractor Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of the medical school or healthcare program application process.
  • An MD or DO is highly desired.
  • Preferred Expertise: Deep familiarity with centralized application services (e.g., AMCAS, AACOMAS, CASPA, TMDSAS).
  • Desired Experience: Prior roles directing or advising within university pre-health or postbaccalaureate programs, or specialized experience supporting non-traditional applicants and those with complex academic histories.
  • Desired Previous Roles: Former medical/healthcare school admissions committee members, admissions officers, admissions chairs, or faculty members.
  • Exceptional writing, structural editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage project deadlines, and communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.

What Successful Service Looks Like

  • Delivery of high-quality consulting that meets client objectives and program standards.
  • Timely, direct communication with clients and administrative contacts.
  • Positive client feedback and structured progress toward agreed-upon application goals.

Contractor Compensation

  • Contractor Rate: Competitive revenue-share model (45% of the net client package price) OR a $165/hour flat rate for hourly services.
  • Ancillary Projects: Optional non-client deliverables (e.g., writing and revising blog posts, leading and/or participating in podcasts, video initiatives, or peer-reviewing materials) are compensated at $75/hour.
  • Optional platform orientation and administrative setup sessions are provided uncompensated prior to accepting client engagements.
  • No minimum number of clients or hours is guaranteed. Contractors are responsible for their own business expenses and tax obligations.

What to Expect from the Contractor Selection Process

  • Application/Interest Review: Review of relevant experience, subject-matter expertise, and role fit by our Talent Team.
  • Talent Conversation: A video conversation covering service fit, contractor model, compensation, logistics, and availability.
  • Role-Specific Evaluation: Completion of a writing and editing exercise, followed by a team interview utilizing an evaluation rubric.
  • Confirmation Chat: Final discussion of service expectations, client needs, and role fit with a Guidewell program leader.

Independent Contractor Relationship

This opportunity is intended to be structured as an independent contractor relationship rather than employment. Contractors are not eligible for Guidewell employee benefits and are responsible for their own tax obligations and business expenses except as otherwise provided in a written agreement. The specific terms of any client work will be governed by the applicable independent contractor agreement. Nothing in this posting should be read to alter the actual nature of the working relationship or applicable law.
