Job Description

We are looking for a full-time, permanent District Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in the Netherlands. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting Health & Safety (H&S) data and processes within the business unit you support. You will perform data processing, data analysis, queries, and audits for the H&S department. You will support operational teams in developing the skills and capabilities required to effectively manage H&S processes in line with UPS's Health & Safety strategy. In addition, you will play an active role in implementing new projects and conducting risk assessments.

The position also includes the role of Prevention Advisor. In this capacity, you will collaborate with employee representatives, management, and external stakeholders, including H&S regulatory and enforcement authorities, to identify and mitigate current and future risks.

What will you do?

• Collect, organize, and analyze Health & Safety data to support continuous improvement initiatives across operations and support functions. Generate and distribute reports on injuries, vehicle accidents, incidents, compliance metrics, and other key safety performance indicators for business unit leadership.
• Monitor Health & Safety compliance metrics to ensure ongoing audit readiness. Review and validate injury, illness, and accident reports across UPS locations, ensuring accurate documentation, investigation, and timely follow-up of corrective actions.
• Stay informed on developments in Health & Safety systems, technologies, and best practices. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve data quality, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of H&S reporting and management systems.
• Conduct workplace inspections and site visits to identify hazards and reduce operational risks. Support the planning, delivery, and validation of Health & Safety training programs while reinforcing H&S responsibilities and expectations with operational leadership.
• Assist in conducting data-driven investigations and root cause analyses for incidents and safety concerns. Support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive measures to address identified risks and improve overall safety performance.
• Partner with Health & Safety management to define reporting requirements, KPIs, and performance metrics. Support the implementation of safety initiatives, regulatory compliance activities, risk assessments, and other strategic Health & Safety projects.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor's degree level (HBO) working and thinking ability.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Flexibility regarding working hours.
• Willingness to travel.
• Excellent command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• Full, clean driving license travelling between regional sites (primarily Heerenveen and Apeldoorn, with visits to Eindhoven and other centres)
• MVK (Middelbare Veiligheidskunde) Health & Safety qualification or equivalent. If not, mandatory to follow MVK course and succeed.
• Relevant Health & Safety experience in an operational or corporate environment

Health & Safety Specialist – UPS Nederland

Functieomschrijving

In deze functie ben je verantwoordelijk voor het beheer, de analyse en rapportage van Health & Safety (H&S) gegevens en processen binnen de business unit waarvoor je werkt. Je voert dataverwerking, data-analyse, queries en audits uit voor de H&S-afdeling. Je ondersteunt de operationele teams bij het ontwikkelen van vaardigheden en capaciteiten om H&S-processen effectief te beheren, in lijn met de H&S-strategie van UPS. Daarnaast speel je een actieve rol bij de implementatie van nieuwe projecten en het uitvoeren van risicoanalyses.

De functie omvat tevens de rol van preventieadviseur. Je werkt daarbij samen met personeelsvertegenwoordiging, management en externe partijen, waaronder H&S-handhavingsinstanties, om huidige en toekomstige risico's te identificeren en te beperken.

Wat ga je doen?

• Je blijft op de hoogte van ontwikkelingen op het gebied van H&S-systemen en -technologieën en doet voorstellen ter verbetering van de efficiëntie en effectiviteit van bestaande processen.
• Je verzamelt en structureert data om continue verbeterprocessen binnen de operatie en ondersteunende afdelingen te ondersteunen.
• Je genereert rapportages over auto-ongevallen, incidenten en veiligheidsmetingen om het H&S-team en het management van de business unit van relevante informatie te voorzien.
• Je controleert of letsel- en ongevallenrapporten volledig en correct zijn voor elke UPS-locatie.
• Je ondersteunt bij het geven van trainingen en bij het communiceren van verplichtingen richting het (operationeel) leiderschap.
• Je helpt bij het uitvoeren van data-analyses en root cause analyses om ervoor te zorgen dat corrigerende en preventieve maatregelen aansluiten bij geconstateerde knelpunten.
• Je werkt samen met het H&S-management om de benodigde informatie en KPI's te definiëren voor effectieve H&S-processturing en rapportage.
• Je voert werkplekinspecties en locatiebezoeken uit en ondersteunt bij trainingen om risico's te beperken.
