The Role:
Our site in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full time, 6 months in duration.


The Mechanical Engineering Co-op supports the design, development, testing, and documentation of ultra-high-purity (UHP) gas purification systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. Working closely with mechanical engineers, manufacturing, quality, and project teams, the co-op assists with CAD modeling, engineering drawings, bill of material management, prototype testing, data analysis, and technical documentation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Mechanical design activities (3D modeling, drafting) in Solidworks

  • Evaluate component performance

  • Assist with pressure vessel and piping system documentation

  • Conducting laboratory testing

  • Troubleshooting hardware issues

  • Implementing engineering change requests


What We Seek:

  • Pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Excel and basic engineering calculations

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based engineering environment

Graduating in Spring 2027 or later

Eligibility:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student

  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June

  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program
