Full-Time General Maintenance at Birdville Independent School District
Wage: Contingent on Certification and Experience
Hours: Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-4:00PM with a 1 hour break
Job Summary: This position requires a highly motivated, self-starting individual who needs little oversight in the daily scope of their duties and work activities. The successful candidate possesses strong verbal and written communication skills and utilizes those with superiors, subordinates and those associated with the work. They are a problem solver. The individual is well-organized and can effectively prioritize. Follow-up is second-nature with this person. They maintain a strong sense of urgency concerning the scheduling and performance of the work. The person works well independently or as a productive member of a group. This person can assess and conceptualize the essential long-term needs and assemble them into an actionable plan. Works well under pressure. They have keen time management skills. They love to be challenged and working with people towards solutions. Perform general maintenance tasks as a member of the crew working with carpenters, electricians, lock smiths, plumbers, roofers, painters, and HVAC technicians. Ability to use online work order system using an iPad.
Job Scope: This position has no supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a commitment to workplace safety programs and practices.
- Performs various tasks such as: welding, metal fabrication, carpentry, masonry, framing and drywall, suspended ceilings, tile work, ceramic floor and wall/ vinyl flooring/ etc.
- Analyze projects for material requirements and assist in securing competitive quotes from vendors.
- Hanging whiteboards/ bulletin boards/ pictures/ banners/ etc.
- Executes other duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Conditions: Sits, stands, walks, bends, and twists on a daily basis. Is frequently exposed to dirt, dust, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, wetness/humidity, darkness or poor lighting and extreme temperatures.
Is exposed to mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire hazards periodically. Kneels, crouches, squats, climbs and lifts several times per day. Location of the job is in the shop, warehouse, and vehicle, outdoors, in crawl spaces above ceilings and below floors. Lifts items weighing up to 100 lbs.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Texas driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skills in carpentry, general maintenance of buildings, hand and power tools. Knowledge of building maintenance business operations, material cost and material quality. Uses vehicle, IPad, telephone, calculator, copier, and computer
