Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Professor of Nursing is a 9-month, tenure-track, full-time faculty position. This position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, on campus and online; conducting research leading to high-impact peer-reviewed publications and presentations; supervising students’ scholarly activities such as undergraduate honors research, master’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice scholarly project; and serving professional organizations, the department, College, and university.

This is an in-person position. On-campus presence is an essential function of this position. Extensive in-person engagement in activities such as office hours, student advising, collaborative work, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is required to advance student success, departmental effectiveness, and the mission of the college and the university.

This faculty position is part of the Arkansas Health Research and Solutions cluster hire at the University of Arkansas. Driven by three Fortune 500 companies, booming steel and lithium sectors, world-class museums, and rich natural beauty, Arkansas is transforming into a vibrant hub of opportunity and innovation. Yet Arkansas also faces significant health challenges. Too many Arkansans experience chronic disease, high rates of infant and maternal mortality, mental health crises, and limited healthcare access. Through this cluster hire initiative, the University will advance its land-grant mission by expanding capacity to address our state’s most pressing challenges. Building on existing campus expertise, these new faculty members will advance their research agendas through collaborative research—both with other scholars and with communities in the state—that results in peer-reviewed publications, external funding, and new approaches to healthcare. The successful candidate for this position will join a multidisciplinary community of scholars committed to confronting major issues, generating new knowledge, and providing research-based solutions that improve health outcomes for people living in Arkansas and beyond.

The position reports to the Executive Director of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing in the College of Education and Health Professions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned doctoral degree from an accredited university in nursing or a related field (e.g., PhD, DNP, EdD, DrPH) conferred by the first date of employment

• Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution of higher education

• Evidence of or promise of success in research/scholarly activity

• Evidence of or promise of effective teaching

• Eligible to hold an unencumbered RN license with the Arkansas State Board of Nursing and secured by the first date of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Research doctorate in nursing (i.e., DSN, DNSc, PhD) conferred by the first date of employment

• Innovative research agenda in adult, geriatric, or chronic health care

• Experience working with federally funded projects or equivalent supporting high-impact research

• Ability to develop an independent and collaborative research agenda

• Evidence of or strong potential to engage in interdisciplinary collaborative research

• Ability to secure extramural funding

• Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
