Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech), you will be pivotal in producing diagnostic images that enable Radiologists to accurately diagnose and manage patient conditions.Each day, you will perform a variety of imaging examinations, including X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, and MRIs, while actively contributing to a positive patient experience through direct interaction.To excel, you must deeply understand diagnostic imaging's critical importance, encompassing expertise in workflow, patient positioning, and capturing precise results essential for timely and accurate diagnoses.

  • Using advanced knowledge of diagnostic procedures, instructs and prepares patients based on age, size or disorder of patient for radiographic or fluoroscopy examinations to assure patient cooperation and facilitate proper examinations. Using knowledge of correct radiographic positions and anatomy based on age, size or disorder of patient, positions patient and equipment so as to obtain a clear and undistorted view of the area being examined. Correlates patient clinical history with the exam ordered to assure appropriateness. Obtains appropriate history or clarification before proceeding with exam when needed.
  • Competently assists or performs & demonstrates department leadership in radiography & fluoroscopy procedures at a consistently high level of professionalism & accuracy.
  • Competently performs or assists & demonstrates leadership in multiple complex imaging procedures such as angiography, CT scanning, special procedures, or cardiac catheterization as required.
  • Assists the radiologist during breast localizations by accurately imaging the area of interest. Performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
  • Uses knowledge of radiation safety, collimates the x-ray beam or other imaging equipment and uses shielding appropriately to assure optimal patient and operator safety from unnecessary exposure to radiation in the department and on the units. Practices radiation safety by screening & documenting last menstrual period or other means to confirm female patients of child bearing age are appropriate to be imaged.
  • Selects appropriate equipment and determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions based on age, size or disorder of patients. Through accurate positioning and technique produces optimal images and minimizes patient exposure to radiation.

Job Requirements

Required

  • A minimum of 5 years Radiologic Technologist and
  • Must have experience and demonstrate competency in radiography with fluoroscopy certification and
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Tech II level experience in the modalities of expertise for two of the following modalities: angiography / special procedures, or cardiac catheterization, or CT, or MRI, or Mammography, or DXA.
  • Medical Radiographer: CA, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Bone Densitometry (RTBD), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (RTCT), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Cardio Interventional Radiography (RTCV), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Mammography (RTM), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging (RTMR), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology (RTN), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Quality Management (RTQM), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (RTT), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Vascular Interventional Rad (RTVI), upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography (RTVS), upon hire and
  • Fluoroscopy Radiology Tech (FLRAD): CA, upon hire
  • Will be required to take call
  • Will be required to work weekends on a rotational basis

 

 

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
