How you’ll make an impact

Use your expertise in second language teaching and acquisition, adult education and curriculum development to strengthen FCC’s second language program.

  

As Senior Second Language Teacher, you’ll teach French and English as a second language while leading program design, curriculum development, assessment and continuous improvement. You’ll monitor learner progress, analyze outcomes and recommend improvements that help employees meet the language requirements of their roles. You’ll also coach employees, managers, senior leaders and other language teachers by sharing best practices and supporting consistent program delivery.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design, development and continuous improvement of FCC’s second language program

  • Deliver French and English second language instruction to employees, including individual or group learning sessions

  • Conduct needs analyses and develop curriculum, lesson plans, assessments and program evaluations

  • Monitor learner progress and program results, identify gaps, and recommend and lead the implementation of innovative learning solutions and program improvements

  • Plan enrolment communications and employee placement for language learning programs and immersion training

  • Advise and coach leaders and employees to support successful second language learning and meet role-based language requirements

  • Coach and mentor second language teachers through a community of practice that promotes best practices and strengthens program consistency

What you’ll bring to the team

Required qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in education

  • At least six years of teaching experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Strong knowledge of second language acquisition, adult learning, instructional design and language training best practices

  • Experience developing curriculum, learning objectives, assessments or program evaluations

  • Excellent consulting, influencing and collaboration skills

  • Advanced proficiency in both official languages (English and French).

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience delivering virtual language learning

  • Specialized training in second language instruction

  • Coaching certification or formal coaching training

  • Experience in education administration, program management or curriculum development
