Commercial Surety Underwriting Specialist (SE/Mid-Atlantic)

Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret business reports, including credit checks, bank agreements, and financial statements, to support underwriting processes.
- Oversee risk selection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability for the assigned branch office.
- Assess risk quality in compliance with company guidelines and standards.
- Review underwriting decisions and provide recommendations for extending surety credit, including terms and conditions.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Ensure timely and informed decision-making while maintaining integrity and honesty.
- Coach and develop team members to achieve established objectives.
- Utilize independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related experience in commercial surety underwriting.
- Progression toward certifications such as Associate in Surety and Fidelity Bonding (AFSB), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Proven ability to operate with integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
