Job Title: Surgical Scrub Tech
Unit: Labor and Delivery
Employment Type: Per Diem
Minimum Working Requirements: 144 hour minimum commitment per 6 week schedule, 3 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule, 1 Winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), 1 Spring/Summer Holiday (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)
Shift: Night Shift (7pm-7:30am)
Location: St. Mary Medical Center
The Surgical Technician works in a collaborative environment at St Mary within Surgical Services to provide safe, quality health care services & / or assistance to patients under the supervision & direction of a registered nurse or other designated health care professional in accordance with level of experience, education, policies & procedures. Must have additional training through the achievement of in-house certifications or have successful completion of role specific certification or licensing.
What You Will Do as a Scrub Tech:
Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.
demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.
Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.
Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.
Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.
Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.
Assess and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs.
Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.
Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in high school, completing a GED, or obtained a high school diploma or GED.
Surgical Tech Certification required
1-2 years of experience preferred.
