Here at the Mick George Group we are currently recruiting an Contracts Manager to join the Earthworks division.
Location: Mick George Contracting sites – which will vary across the country
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 6am -6pm, Saturdays as and when required 6am – 1pm
Pay: Dependent on experience.

Role Purpose
The Contracts Manager is a senior leadership position with accountability for strategic direction, commercial performance, client relationships, and operational excellence across multiple projects. The role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and a commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction across multiple earthworks and stabilisation projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Drive operational excellence, productivity improvements, and continuous innovation across the division.
- Manage contract compliance, commercial performance, valuations, cost forecasting, and final accounts.
- Support the negotiation and administration of NEC, JCT, and bespoke contracts, including variations and claims.
- Oversee project delivery, quality assurance processes, technical compliance, and programme performance.
- Lead health, safety, environmental, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring full compliance with legislation and company procedures.
- Monitor and improve safety performance, lead investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage labour, plant, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources across multiple projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, supply chain partners, and subcontractors.
- Lead client meetings, progress reviews, commercial discussions, and dispute resolution activities.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and wider project teams.
- Support recruitment, training, succession planning, and employee development.
- Identify and mitigate operational, commercial, programme, safety, and environmental risks.
- Ensure accurate reporting, governance, compliance, and effective use of company systems and processes.
- Oversee audits, accreditation requirements, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Support carbon reduction targets and promote sustainable working practices across all operations.
- Complete any ad-hoc requests given by management
Skills & Qualifications Required
- At least 5 years' experience in Earthworks/Civils contract management
- Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws.
- Experience with NEC4/JCT
- Competent in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint).
- CSCS Black Card
- Supporting occupational health programmes.
- Experience in construction, waste, concrete, or mineral extraction industries.
- Promoting environmental and sustainability best practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and workload management abilities, delivering high-quality results within deadlines.
- Builds positive relationships, encourages collaboration, and promotes effective teamwork.
- Demonstrates professionalism, strong leadership, commercial awareness, and strategic thinking.
