Description
The New School is seeking enthusiastic, outgoing, and dependable graduate students to serve as Senior Student Assistant Specialists in the University Welcome Center.
Senior Student Assistant Specialists play an important role in welcoming prospective students, families, and other visitors to The New School and helping them learn more about our academic programs, student experience, and admission process. They lead in-person campus tours and support virtual and on-campus recruitment programs and events, serving as knowledgeable and authentic representatives of the New School student experience.
In addition to these visitor-facing responsibilities, Senior Student Assistant Specialists provide operational and peer leadership within the Welcome Center. They assist with student staff onboarding, training, and scheduling; visitor communications; recruitment logistics; and special projects. They may also help develop student-focused content for Welcome Center social media, online admitted student communities, and the New School Parent and Family Hub.
This position is ideal for a graduate student who enjoys working with people, demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, and is comfortable balancing public-facing responsibilities with administrative and operational work.

Supporting student staff onboarding, peer training, and ongoing professional development.
Providing on-site operational and administrative leadership during select weekday and Saturday visit programs.
Assisting with visitor communications and maintaining accurate campus visit and participation data.
Coordinating recruitment material shipments and maintaining Welcome Center materials and inventory.
Contributing content and student perspectives to Welcome Center social media, online admitted student communities, and parent and family engagement platforms.
Supporting special projects and other Admission and Welcome Center initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:

Previous administrative or office experience required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Comfortable speaking to and engaging with individuals and groups.
Ability to provide accurate information while communicating in a warm, approachable, and professional manner.
Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Interest in mentoring and supporting fellow student employees.
Familiarity with The New School's academic programs, resources, and student experience preferred.
Pay Rate: $21/hour
Work Mode: Hybrid/Split: Employees hired for this position have a regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (e.g., 1–4 times per week) and also work some of the time remotely.
