About Us
We are a high-performance Formula One Team driven by innovation, precision, and passion. Our Composites Design group is responsible for designing and developing lightweight, high-strength carbon fibre components that are critical to the performance and safety of our race car. As a Composites Design Student Placement, you’ll be part of a team that transforms advanced materials into race-winning structures.
The Role
During the placement, you’ll support the design and development of composite components, from concept through to manufacturing release. You’ll work closely with experienced design engineers, contributing to CAD modelling, laminate definition, tooling design, and documentation processes that ensure performance, manufacturability, and compliance with F1 regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design of composite components using CAD software
Support the creation of laminate schedules and ply definitions
Help prepare technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and tooling
Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with manufacturing, structural analysis, and vehicle integration teams to ensure design feasibility and performance
Who We’re Looking For
Currently studying a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Motorsport Engineering and looking for an industry placement as your penultimate year of university
Strong understanding of composite materials and mechanical design principles
Experience with CAD software
Familiarity with composite manufacturing processes and design for manufacture
Passion for motorsport and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset
You must have the right to work in the UK as we cannot provide sponsorship for this role
Be available to attend onsite for an assessment centre in September
