Your role

Canadians know CBC/Radio-Canada for its programming and its presence, but there’s much more happening behind the  scenes. Whether your field of expertise is finance, HR, communications or IT, you are the highly skilled professional that  makes our business run smoothly.

Join the People & Culture team at CBC/Radio-Canada on an exciting journey dedicated to administering time, attendance, and compliance while maximizing and optimizing our Workday platform.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Administrative Specialist to join our HR Services team. Our focus is ensuring all timesheets, reporting, and inquiries are handled efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner. In this role, you will bring your precision and expertise to provide crucial administrative support, resolve  complex timekeeping discrepancies, audit records for compliance, and collaborate closely with timekeepers and other People & Culture teams to continuously improve our time-tracking processes.

Additionally, this role offers great professional growth, with opportunities to cross train with our Expertise team in managing service dates, leave banks, and complex pay analysis.

While work must conform to CBC/Radio-Canada operating standards, HR Policies, collective agreements, tax legislation, labour standards, and administrative procedures, this role encourages and requires independent judgment, analytical thinking, and independent decision-making within a complex environment. Work is subject only to general review, and you may occasionally coordinate the work  of others.

Responsibilities

  • Review, process and approve employee timesheets in Workday to ensure accuracy and completeness, while adhering to strict, recurring deadlines to support seamless payroll processing.

  • Investigate and correct time-entry discrepancies, missing records or duplicates, collaborating directly with employees, managers, and timekeepers.

  • Ensure compliance across all time tracking records and documentation with CBC/Radio-Canada operating standards, HR policies, collective agreements, provincial/federal labour standards, and tax legislation for audit readiness.

  • Collaborate closely with the Payroll and Operations teams to ensure accurate wage calculations, retroactive pay adjustments, and seamless, timely payroll processing.

  • Reconcile overtime, leave balances, holiday pay, and shift differential earnings to ensure accuracy.

  • Provide training and support to employees and managers on timekeeping procedures and Workday system navigation.

  • Identify issues or improvement opportunities related to the Workday timekeeping module, collaborating with the Senior Specialist responsible for escalating and resolving issues with the People Systems and Analytics team.

  • Collaborate with the HR Services Expertise Team to develop your skills and support various activities, including service date calculations, complex leave bank management, and deep-dive pay analysis.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in HR, Payroll or administrative operations within CBC/Radio-Canada or similar complex organization.

  • Essential fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).

  • Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in data management.

  • Hands-on experience with pay processing systems, such as Workday combined with strong knowledge of HR policies, collective agreements, and federal/provincial labour standards.

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage several priorities and meet multiple, tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with discretion, diplomacy, tact and absolute confidentiality.

  • Sound judgment, initiative, analytical problem-solving abilities, and resourcefulness.

  • Flexibility to work overtime as required during peak periods.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

  • A mandatory Criminal record check.

  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
