Overview
A busy principal in Tribeca is seeking an experienced, highly proactive Full-time House Manager/Personal Assistant to oversee the day-to-day operations of a luxury residence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, anticipating needs, and keeping a household running seamlessly with minimal direction.
The ideal candidate is organized, resourceful, and self-motivated. This is a hands-on role for someone who naturally notices what needs to be done, solves problems independently, and takes pride in maintaining an impeccably run home.
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday with flexibility as needed for household projects or occasional emergencies.
- This is a results-driven role. The principal values efficiency, initiative, and productivity over simply being present. The successful candidate will continuously identify opportunities to improve and maintain the home rather than waiting for direction.
Responsibilities
Household Management
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of a luxury residence.
- Coordinate and manage household vendors, including plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, repair professionals, and other service providers from scheduling through project completion.
- Obtain estimates, compare pricing, and present recommendations while overseeing projects to ensure quality work and timely completion.
- Manage home repairs, maintenance schedules, and preventative upkeep.
- Maintain household inventory and ensure bathrooms, kitchen, pantry, and household supplies are always fully stocked.
- Reset and maintain the home daily, including making beds, handling dishes, taking out trash, organizing spaces, and ensuring the residence is guest-ready at all times.
- Maintain outdoor areas and complete seasonal household checklists.
- Create and maintain household systems, manuals, vendor contacts, warranties, and service records.
- Proactively identify maintenance issues before they become problems and coordinate appropriate solutions.
Personal Assistant Duties
- Run personal errands, including returns, shipping, dry cleaning, prescription pick-up, and other day-to-day tasks.
- Coordinate appointments, reservations, and scheduling as needed.
- Manage vehicle maintenance, inspections, and servicing.
- Handle miscellaneous personal and household logistics efficiently and discreetly.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- Has previous experience managing a private residence as a House Manager.
- Is exceptionally proactive and able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Is a natural problem solver who anticipates needs before being asked.
- Has excellent vendor management and project coordination skills.
- Is organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven.
- Takes pride in maintaining a beautifully run household.
- Is trustworthy, discreet, and professional.
- Understands luxury home standards and white-glove service expectations.
- Lives locally and can respond when household emergencies arise.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a House Manager, Estate Manager, Executive Housekeeper, or Personal Assistant supporting a private household.
- Prior experience working in a luxury private residence with high service standards is required.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple household projects from planning through completion.
- Strong knowledge of home maintenance, preventative care, household systems, and coordinating repairs.
- Proven experience managing vendors, negotiating pricing, reviewing proposals, and overseeing contractors.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using digital calendars, task management systems, spreadsheets, and smart home technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly proactive with the ability to anticipate needs and solve problems before they arise.
- Professional, polished, discreet, and able to maintain complete confidentiality.
- Comfortable working around children and coordinating with other household staff.
- Able to lift and carry household supplies as needed and perform light hands-on household tasks when appropriate.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and have outstanding, verifiable references from previous private employers.
