Aircraft Mechanic II (23022) – Airframe (F/A-18 Multiple Variants)

Location: NAS JRB Fort Worth, Texas
Employment Type: Full-Time
Status: Contingent Upon Contract Award

This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment offers, start dates, and continued employment are dependent upon Resicum International LLC being awarded the contract and the successful transition of contract performance.

Resicum International LLC is seeking experienced Aircraft Mechanic II – Airframe personnel to support organizational-level maintenance operations for VMFA-112 at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) Fort Worth, Texas.

This position supports the inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, and operational testing of F/A-18 aircraft airframe systems across multiple variants. The Aircraft Mechanic II performs maintenance of moderate complexity while ensuring aircraft structural integrity, mission readiness, and compliance with NAVAIR technical publications, engineering specifications, quality assurance standards, and established safety procedures.

Position Summary

The Aircraft Mechanic II – Airframe performs scheduled and unscheduled organizational-level maintenance on F/A-18 aircraft structures, flight controls, and associated mechanical systems. This position independently performs aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, structural repairs, corrosion control, and operational testing while providing technical guidance to junior mechanics and supporting daily flight operations to ensure mission-ready aircraft.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled organizational-level maintenance on F/A-18 aircraft across multiple variants.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, modify, remove, install, and operationally test aircraft airframe systems and structural components.
  • Perform aircraft structural repairs, sheet metal repairs, corrosion control, and structural modifications in accordance with approved technical publications and engineering specifications.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft structures, flight control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, fuel systems, powerplant support structures, and associated mechanical components.
  • Inspect aircraft for corrosion, fatigue, cracks, distortion, impact damage, and other structural discrepancies.
  • Diagnose aircraft malfunctions by interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs), wiring diagrams, and other approved technical publications.
  • Remove, replace, align, rig, adjust, and operationally test aircraft structural components following maintenance actions.
  • Perform aircraft sheet metal repairs and structural modifications using approved repair techniques and engineering documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of Maintenance Engineering Changes (MECs), Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) documentation, and recommended maintenance improvements.
  • Perform operational and functional checks to verify aircraft serviceability following maintenance.
  • Utilize specialized aircraft maintenance tools including torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, shears, precision measuring instruments, and aircraft support equipment.
  • Maintain accurate aircraft maintenance documentation, discrepancy reports, inspection records, maintenance action forms, and aircraft logbook entries.
  • Lead small maintenance teams during complex aircraft maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to Aircraft Mechanic I personnel.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Production Control, Quality Assurance, engineering personnel, and Government representatives.
  • Maintain compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, Tool Control Program (TCP), environmental regulations, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives to improve aircraft reliability, maintenance efficiency, and mission readiness.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, aircraft stands, and maintenance platforms.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and around operating aircraft.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely operate aircraft maintenance support equipment and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of aircraft maintenance experience, with significant experience supporting F/A-18 aircraft or other military tactical aircraft.
  • Demonstrated experience performing aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, structural modifications, and operational testing.
  • Broad knowledge of F/A-18 aircraft systems, airframe maintenance procedures, and applicable technical publications.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft structural repairs, sheet metal fabrication, corrosion control, and component replacement procedures.
  • Proficiency maintaining and repairing aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, flight control, mechanical, powerplant support, and structural systems.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and electrical theory sufficient to support aircraft troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs), wiring diagrams, and other approved technical publications.
  • Experience using aircraft maintenance support equipment, sheet metal tools, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, precision measuring instruments, and specialized aircraft maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to remove, install, rig, align, adjust, troubleshoot, and operationally test aircraft structures and associated systems.
  • Experience leading small maintenance teams and providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior aircraft mechanics.
  • Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks while meeting production schedules and mission requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strict compliance with NAVAIR maintenance procedures, engineering requirements, Quality Assurance standards, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, Tool Control Program (TCP), and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required installation access credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps experience maintaining F/A-18A/B/C/D, F/A-18E/F, or EA-18G aircraft.
  • Experience supporting Organizational (O-Level), Intermediate (I-Level), or Depot (D-Level) aircraft maintenance.
  • Formal training in aircraft airframe repair, sheet metal fabrication, structural repair, or corrosion control.
  • Experience performing aircraft structural repairs, damage assessment, depot-level modifications, corrosion control, and aircraft recovery maintenance.
  • Previous experience serving as a work center lead, shift lead, or team lead during military aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Contractor Logistics Support (CLS), NAVAIR, or U.S. Department of Defense aviation maintenance contracts.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one, if required by the contract.
