Description
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a tertiary care hospital focused on the treatment of catastrophic childhood illnesses including cancer, sickle cell disease and other hematologic disorders, HIV and other infectious diseases, endocrinology, and neurological disorders.
The Rehabilitation Services department at St. Jude is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families. We are seeking a driven and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. In this role, you will provide care for diverse groups of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults in the inpatient and outpatient settings. This position will work in direct patient care 3 days weekly.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments; study, identify, measure, and treat disorders as part of the Rehabilitation Services department.
- Under supervision, provide preventive, habilitative, rehabilitative, adaptive, and palliative care, and deliver suitable interventions to both inpatients and outpatients within area.
- Provide evidence-based treatment within area to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients.
- As applicable, support provision of devices and aids related to own rehabilitation area, and operate testing equipment.
- Complete and review appropriate documents and records as required; communicate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., clinical and research staff) as required.
- Counsel patients and caregivers regarding diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care.
- Conduct clinical and instrumental swallowing assessments, score and interpret results, and develop appropriate recommendations with supervision.
- Assess candidacy for and prescribe augmentative communication modalities, endotracheal prostheses, jaw range of motion devices, and other aids with supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Master's degree from an accredited program in speech-language pathology required.
Minimum Experience:
- 1 + years of experience preferred.
- 1+ years of relevant pediatric/ oncology experience, including internship experience, preferred but not required.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- (LC: SPEECH-TN) Licensure as a Speech Pathologist by State of Tennessee Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology required.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- Member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association required.
- Certification as a Speech Pathologist by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association required.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
