Description
Hours: 24-32 hours per week, up to 1,400 hours per yearA Part Time Probation Investigator may be called upon to do any and all of the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform)
- Conduct thorough background checks into criminal, social, medical, and substance use histories, and verify educational background, military service, and financial history.
- Interview defendants, victims, and related parties to gather objective data and utilize motivational interviewing to assess the defendant's accountability and readiness for change.
- Perform specialized alcohol and drug evaluations to determine rehabilitation needs, utilizing evidence-based tools.
- Prepare comprehensive pre-sentence investigation reports and treatment plans within strict statutory deadlines, integrating assessment scores, rehabilitative goals, and legally compliant sentencing options and supervision terms.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, psychology, social work, counseling, sociology or closely related field.
- Strong word processing skills. Must also be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of and/or skill in investigating, interviewing, and counseling practices, procedures and techniques is desired.
